In a powerful demonstration of what happens when compassion meets collective action, Amazing Friends for Development (AFRIDA) made a transformative visit to Nyamirami Health Center IV in Muhokya Sub-county, Busongora south-Kasese District. The occasion wasn’t just about handing over medical supplies, it was about reaffirming a quiet but profound promise that those who have the means as well as the heart must step forward to uplift the communities in which they live.

The life-saving items delivered to the health facility were not funded by foreign aid, corporate sponsorships, or external grants. Instead, they were made possible entirely through the generosity of AFRIDA’s own members, who came together during the organization’s annual dinner in December with a shared purpose of pooling their resources with one clear vision: to strengthen local healthcare infrastructure and ease the daily burden on both medical staff and vulnerable patients.
During the donation ceremony, the AFRIDA President H.E Ndungo Mubatsi Joard II officially handed over the items on behalf of the Association’s members. The consignment included 20 hospital mattresses, 2 complete caesarean section sets, and 4 sets of oxygen heads equipment that will directly impact maternal care, patient comfort, and emergency response capacity at the facility.
In his remarks, the President emphasized that these resources were entrusted to the health center with a deep expectation of responsible stewardship. “We ask that these items be used with the utmost care, transparency, and accountability,” he urged. He further resounded a call about the core of healthcare delivery: “Let us continue to offer excellent, compassionate care to every patient who walks through these doors, regardless of how they look, what they wear, or where they come from”.
He also took a moment to clarify a fundamental truth about the organization’s model: “AFRIDA has no external donors. What you see today is purely the fruit of our members’ personal contributions. We are giving back to our own, because true development begins at home.”

The gesture was met with heartfelt appreciation from those who will directly manage and benefit from the donation. Dr. Alice Kunahimbire, In-charge of Nyamirami Health Center IV, expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the facility and the wider community. “On behalf of our health workers and the people of Nyamirami, we sincerely thank AFRIDA for this wonderful gesture,” she said. “These supplies will improve patient comfort, support safer surgical deliveries, and ultimately save lives. We do not take this support lightly.”
Local government leadership echoed her sentiments. The LC3 Chairperson of Muhokya Sub-County Mr. Asanairi Mugusu, commended AFRIDA’s initiative, noting that homegrown solutions are exactly what grassroots healthcare needs to thrive. “I am deeply humbled by what AFRIDA has done today,” he stated. “On behalf of the local council, I pledge our complete support and close monitoring to ensure these items are used exactly as intended. We will work hand in hand with the health facility team to guarantee transparency, proper maintenance, and maximum benefit for our people.”
AFRIDA’s visit to Nyamirami HC IV is more than a donation story. It’s a living example of how pooled community resources, clear accountability, and unwavering compassion can directly strengthen local healthcare systems. And if this is what one dinner, one shared vision, and one dedicated membership can achieve, the future of grassroots development in the region looks brighter than ever.
Good compassionate heart. AFRIDA juuuuuu sana
